· 1.1 The Creative Process
o 1.1.12.D.1- Distinguish innovative applications of the elements of art and principles of design in visual artworks from diverse cultural perspectives and identify specific cross-cultural themes.
o The lesson will teach students about public art in American culture and diverse political perspectives.
· 1.2 History of the Arts and Culture
o 1.2.12.A.1- Determine how dance, music, theatre, and visual art have influenced world cultures throughout history.
o The lesson plan will teach students how Shepard Fairey’s public art has influenced our modern culture.
· 1.3 Performance
o 1.3.12.D.2- Produce an original body of artwork in one or more art mediums that demonstrates mastery of visual literacy, methods, techniques, and cultural understanding.
o The students will first sketch 4 thumbnails in pencil for planning and then create a work with stencils and paint therefore demonstrating different uses of art mediums.
· 1.4 Aesthetic Responses and Critique Methodologies
o 1.4.12.A.4- Evaluate how exposure to various cultures influences individual, emotional, intellectual, and kinesthetic responses to artwork.
o Students will be able to assess their peers’ work by using their own individual experiences to respond on a personal level.

· D. Oral Presentation
· 3.3.12.D.3 Demonstrate effective delivery strategies (e.g., eye contact, body language, volume, intonation, and articulation) when speaking.
· The students will demonstrate proper public speaking skills while talking about their artwork after the class critique.
B. Objectives
· The students will create a visually interesting artwork that mimics the style of Shepard Fairey’s work and grabs the attention of the school’s inhabitants in order to create awareness for the chosen social issue.
· The students will explore the method of stenciling which mimic’s the process of how Shepard Fairey creates a design and then prints multiple reproductions of the design.
· The students will demonstrate knowledge of Shepard Fairey’s work and conceptual meanings behind his work through the written exit slip activity.
· The student will show adequate knowledge of the specific chosen social issue through a 5-minute introduction about their artwork and social issue as well as how they correlate.
